The Fullerton Building

The Fullerton Building

Before heading down Cavenagh Bridge, we took a snap outside the Fullerton Building. The Fullerton Building was commissioned in 1923 and completed in 1928. It was reported in the Straits Times in June 1928 that constructions cost over four million dollars. Soon after it opened its doors, the General Post Office became its first permanent tenant, occupying the first and basement levels. The building was then used as the headquarters for the Japanese Military Administrative Building during the Second World War. Following the War, several government offices such as the Inland Revenue Authority as well as offices under the Ministry of Finance were based in the Fullerton Building. It underwent its first major renovations in the early 1980s before it was bought and converted into a Five-Star Hotel, and we now know the building as house to the Fullerton Hotel.
